What is an Amazon deals group?

An Amazon deals group is a Telegram channel, WhatsApp group or WhatsApp channel where someone posts discounted product links as they appear. Members get a feed of offers instead of hunting for them; the person running it earns an affiliate commission when someone buys through a posted link. That exchange is the entire business model, and understanding it is the key to reading these groups sensibly.

The format matters more than it might seem. Telegram channels are broadcast-only, so they scale to hundreds of thousands of members without turning into chat noise — which is why most serious deal operations run there. WhatsApp groups cap out at around 1,024 members and everyone can post, so they tend to be small, local and chaotic. WhatsApp channels, the newer broadcast format, sit somewhere between the two: one-way like Telegram, but with weaker link previews and no real search.

A good group is curated. A bad one is a firehose of every product with a nominal discount, because volume alone produces some commission. The difference is obvious within a day of joining: count how many posts you would actually have clicked.

How to tell whether a "deal" is really a deal

Discount percentages on Indian e-commerce are calculated against a list price that is frequently fictional. A few habits filter out most of the noise:

The affiliate link itself is harmless — it costs you nothing and the price is identical with or without it. What deserves scepticism is the discount claim, not the link.

How to run your own deals group

The mechanics are straightforward; the work is in sourcing and consistency. Broadly, running one means four things:

Step What it involves
1. Join the programmesAmazon Associates and Flipkart Affiliate are free to join. Each issues the tracking ID that earns your commission.
2. Pick a platformA Telegram channel for reach, a WhatsApp channel for an audience already on WhatsApp. Broadcast beats group chat for anything above a few dozen members.
3. Tag every linkAn untagged link is free advertising for Amazon. This is where most beginners lose money — see the tools below.
4. Label your sourcesSub-IDs let you see which channel and which post earned. Without them every click looks identical in your reports.

Step 3 is where the free tools on this site come in. The Amazon affiliate link generator adds your tag and an optional ascsubtag to any product URL; the Flipkart generator does the same with affid and app deep-linking, which converts noticeably better on mobile-first audiences.

Once you are posting more than a handful of links a day, tagging them one at a time stops being practical. The Bulk Converter takes an entire pasted message — the kind you would post to a channel — finds every URL in it, applies your routing rules per domain, and hands back the finished text ready to broadcast.

Disclosure rules you are actually bound by

If you run a deals group in India, two sets of rules apply and both are routinely ignored until an account gets closed:

Amazon Link Generator

Tag every deal you post so the commission reaches you.

Flipkart Link Generator

App deep-links that convert better on mobile audiences.

Bulk Converter

Frequently asked questions

Do I pay more when I buy through a deals group link?

No. The price is identical whether or not the link carries an affiliate tag. The commission is paid by Amazon out of its own margin, not added to your bill. What you should question is the claimed discount, not the link.

Are Amazon deals groups legal?

Sharing affiliate links is legitimate and the programmes exist precisely for it. What is not permitted is failing to disclose the commercial relationship, or breaking the specific terms of the affiliate agreement — self-purchases and stale posted prices being the two most common breaches.

Telegram channel or WhatsApp group — which is better?

Telegram, for anything beyond a small circle. Channels are broadcast-only and effectively unlimited in size, link previews render properly, and posts stay searchable. WhatsApp groups cap at roughly 1,024 members and let everyone post, which turns into noise quickly; WhatsApp channels fix the noise but still lack search and good previews.

How much can a deals group earn?

It depends entirely on category and audience size, and honest numbers are hard to come by because the screenshots people post are selected. Indian commission rates typically run from around 1% on electronics to higher single digits on fashion and home categories, so electronics-heavy channels need far more volume for the same revenue. Set up sub-tags from day one — without them you will never know which posts actually earned.
